Important Things You Should Know About Acrylic Nails

By Janie

Acrylic nails have become increasingly popular over the past few decades. These nails are artificial and are often applied to the natural nails using an acrylic powder mixed with a liquid that creates a thick substance. The acrylic substance is then applied over both the artificial nail and the real nail to keep the artificial nail in place for a while. A full set may last up to three weeks before a refill is necessary, but it all depends on how careful you are when using your hands.

There are plenty of different ways to get your nails done so that they’ll look flawless.

You Can Choose a Long or Shorter Length

Some people like to have long nails. You may see some people with artificial nails that are several inches long and wonder how they’re able to do much of anything while they’re wearing them, but some people are simply used to the extra length. If you’re not used to having long fingernails, you can always ask the nail technician to cut the artificial nail down to a size that’s a bit more ideal for you. The nail technician would give you several options, showing you how short the nails would be before clipping them.

There are Lots of Shapes to Choose From

Once the artificial nail is glued to the natural nail and the acrylic powder is put on, the nail technician may begin trimming and filing the nails. It’s during this process that you’ll want to mention any specific shape you prefer. The nail technician may ask you if there’s a certain shape you’d like to have. Some of the common nail shapes include square, oval, round, and stiletto nails.

Oval nails tend to have the most natural appearance, but round and square options are great. If you’re looking for something a bit fancier and cat-like, the stiletto nails are a great choice. They’re commonly worn by popular celebrities, including Lady Gaga and Rihanna.

You Can Add Much More to the Nails

Aside from choosing simple colors for your nails, you’ll be able to have so much more added to them if you’d like. In fact, many nail technicians can paint beautiful and intricate designs on the nails. Aside from painting designs, they may be able to add different types of charms and gemstones to the artificial nails. There are thousands of different ways to create unique designs that look stunning and are sure to impress.

If you would like to get acrylic nails, these are some of the important things you should know ahead of time. You’ll be able to choose a length that works best for you. Along with choosing the length, you’ll be able to choose a shape, color, and any special designs you’d like to have added to the nails.
